Foundation Blog

It is with great pleasure to announce that the Fambisa Isizwe Foundation was able to sponsor our current cohort of 20 students for their first term of 2026. The term commenced on the 13th of January 2026 for all schools in Zimbabwe. Our students who attend Bungwe primary school and Gurungweni Secondary School, were able to start the school term with no disruptions on the aforementioned date.  We would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all our donors noting that 7 of our 20 students currently have sponsorship for the full calendar year of 2026!! The generosity and enthusiasm shown by our donors to our cause has amazed us beyond words and gives us renewed vigor to push on with our mission in 2026.

Student Funding update

As noted in the summary above we successfully funded all 20 students of our current cohort of students for the 1st Term of 2026. Our first funding occurred last year, thanks to our amazing donors, for the 3rd term  which commenced on the 9th of September 2025. It was our first funding cycle, and was a bit of a steep learning curve with regards to international wire transfers and coordinating with the school headmasters. But we got through with special thanks given to our key advisor and partner on the ground Mai Mratu who facilitated the entire process from start to finish. As a disclosure to our donors all funds raised for our students are directly deposited into a school controlled account then the respective school bursars are responsible for ensuring tuition is paid for sponsored children. In addition, we leverage information provided by the schools in identifying students in need and for assessing eligibility to receive funding.

Looking ahead for 2026

Given we have successfully fulfilled the first term funding requirement, the Fambisa Isizwe Foundation team can now turn their attention to a few key initiatives and objectives we would like to achieve in 2026 as we continue to grow the foundation.

  1. Continue to Fund student tuition for each term, on time and raise sufficient funds for all students for the rest of the year.
  2. Grow our donor base tenth fold, by attending seminars, speaking events and various charitable events
  3. Partner with other charities and charitable organizations to continue on our mission for education for all students.
    • We were lucky to get of to an amazing start on this front, as we have has been in touch with The Little Children of Our Blessed Lady (LCBL), and are hoping to partner with congregation on some projects in 2026. The LCBL a distinguished Catholic religious congregation established in Zimbabwe in 1932 by Archbishop Aston Ignatius Chichester of the then Rhodesia. Its is A Distinguished Catholic Religious Congregation Dedicated to Empowering Vulnerable Communities Through Education, Healthcare, And Social Development Across Rural and Urban Zimbabwe. The Fambisa Isizwe Foundation is looking to partner with them on various projects within their education arm. More to come as the year progresses.
