Hello everyone,

A friendly reminder that the Foundation is still accepting donations for our students. The third term commenced on September 8th, and a few students remain in need of funding. Overall, it has been a highly successful fundraising year, with tuition fully disbursed for the first two terms. With that in mind, let’s dive into our summer update—we can’t wait to share it with you!

Eye Care Clinic 

Fambisa Isizwe Foundation and I Spy a Good pair of Eyes 

• We are thrilled to announce that this summer from July16th to July 18th the Fambisa Isizwe Foundation and I Spy a Good pair of Eyes charitable foundation, in partnership with the Council for the Blind Zimbabwe, traveled to the Chiredzi region of rural Zimbabwe and provided free vision screenings and prescription eyeglasses to an estimated 200 students, parents, teachers, and community elders over three days. In total 116 clients were deemed to need glasses and received them. The trip was made possible through valued partnerships with the Fambisa Isizwe Foundation and the Council for the Blind Zimbabwe, which provided licensed optometrists and all clinical equipment
• Through its own fundraising endeavors, I Spy a Good Pair of Eyes donated and supplied 400 glasses that were made available for the eye care drive. 
• Our role in the project was serving as the broker and introducing the founder of I Spy a Good pair of Eyes Nitin Ravikumar to the Council of the blind, coordinating Nitin’s travel to Zimbabwe and onwards to Chiredzi as well as hosting him throughout his stay in Zimbabwe.

Council of the Blind and  Evangelical Lutheran church of Zimbabwe 

• Inspired by the success of the I Spy eye clinic drive as well as the additional glasses that were left over from Nitin’s generous donation the Council of the Blind and their licensed optometrists partnered with The Evangelical Lutheran Church during the church’s Ruwadzano Conference in Masvingo (Program details attached for additional reference) and provided Eye Screening and Testing to the Vanshandiri congregation as well as Mucheke community.
• The program occurred over three days from August 27-30 2026. 
• The impact was outstanding, with 159 clients receiving treatment for various eye care needs, including prescription glasses. The team reported that all available glasses were distributed by midday on the second day, highlighting the immense need for eye drives like these.
• While we were grateful to be part of such an important program, we were also saddened by the urgent needs we were unable to meet. As mentioned, the team ran out of glasses by the second afternoon; furthermore, many screened clients required care beyond eyeglasses—ranging from prescription medication to surgery.  The Fambisa Isizwe Foundation was one of the donors in this regard, but our contribution was nowhere near enough . 
• Our call to action is to ask our donors and friends of the Foundation to look at the work of all three partner organizations — I Spy a Good pair of Eyes, the Council of the blind, and Evangelical Lutheran church of Zimbabwe — and see if a specific need resonates with you. We will provide links below, and please note that their needs are not limited to monetary donations, as each organization offers multiple ways to get involved
• All in all, it has been a fantastic summer spent supporting these eye care clinics and providing whatever help we could muster. As a foundation, we would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mai Mratu, who serves as our eyes and ears on the ground and who organized and coordinated all of these endeavors on behalf of the  Fambisa Isizwe Foundation. What about the Fambisa Isizwe Foundation School Kids?

While expanding our vision care initiatives, we remain fully dedicated to our Foundation‘s core mission: empowering students through education at Gurungweni ELCZ Secondary School (Chikombedzi) and Bungwe Primary School (Mberengwa District).

School Update Highlights:

• Term 2: Successfully provided full tuition support for all 20 sponsored scholars when classes began in May 2026.
• Term 3: As the final term kicked off on September 8, 2026, all students successfully enrolled under a temporary fee waiver while we work to cover the remaining tuition balances.
• Cross-Program Impact: Students at Gurungweni also received vision screenings and prescription glasses during our recent Eye Clinic drive!
